This is the official website of Operator 16. When this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means Operator 16 and the small team that runs the site. When it says "you", it means anyone visiting the site.

We only collect what you choose to send us through a form:

• Newsletter: your email address and, if you add them, your first name, last name and birthday.
• Get in touch: your name, email address, a subject and your message.
• Bookings and media inquiries: your first name, email address, your message and, if you add it, your job title.

You can browse the whole site without giving us any of this.

We use what you send for the reason you sent it and nothing else:

• To email you about book releases, events and other news if you joined the newsletter.
• To reply to your message or inquiry.
• To keep a record of requests so we can follow up on them.

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.

This site sets one essential cookie. It keeps the forms secure and remembers that you have already seen the opening animation on the homepage. It holds no personal information and is not used to track you.

Once you make a choice in the cookie banner, a second cookie remembers that choice for 30 days.

We count which pages are read without any tracking cookie: your IP address is shortened before it is stored, so nothing we keep can identify you. You can turn this counting off under Cookie Settings in the footer. We do not use advertising cookies. Our Cookie Policy page lists every cookie by name.

Videos on this site are hosted by YouTube. A video only loads when you press play, and it uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Some preview images are also loaded from YouTube, which means YouTube can see the request your browser makes for them.

The site links to bookshops, social networks, map services and other websites. Once you follow a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Your information is seen only by the people who need it to do their job: the team that runs this site and the services that host it and deliver our email. They may use it only to provide that service to us.

We will share information if the law requires us to.

Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Messages and inquiries are kept for as long as it takes to deal with them and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you write again.

You can ask us at any time to:

• Tell you what information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete your information.
• Take you off the newsletter.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
